Learn to create visual images that communicate ideas with humor and wit.  This course will teach you how to design, draw and develop ideas resulting in producing your own set of cartoon characters.  Learn tips and tricks from a professional cartoonist with over 40 years experience, and turn everyday events into funny, whimsical comics and cartoons.  Students should bring a drawing pad (9x12" or 12x14"), pencils and erasers to class. This class will be offered to students who previously enrolled in Cartooning class, or those with more experience who wish to take their skills to the next higher level.  Students will develop and create characters and comic strips and cartoons. Instructor: DAVE McCOY

Crocheting is a wonderful way to make use of your time, to relieve stress and relax, and to make beautiful and useful items.  Learn all the basic stitches of crocheting, some simple stitch combinations such as circles and squares and especially how to read a pattern.  Learn about different types of yarns, needles and published patterns. Then using the basic techniques you can create designer originals yourself.  Each person can choose their own project to complete. Special help is given to left-handed students.  Men are welcome.  Bring to class:  A crocheting hook and a ball of yarn. Come to this fun relaxing class and create a beautiful, decorative hand-painted wooden serving platter to take home.  Easy step by step directions will be given in painting your serving tray.  Serve cocktails, appetizers and more on a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork that you hand-painted yourself!  Your friends and family will be impressed by your entertaining and creative skills!  All supplies are included. Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.  Join us for a 6 week session where we will incorporate both Mindfulness and Art in our 1 hour class.  Each week we will engage all of your senses while we work with clay, pastels, and other medium for 30 minutes and also spending 30 minutes in guided Mindfulness.  Instructor: ART INNOVATORS


OIL PAINTING FOR BEGINNERS/advanced students    FEE: $170

Have you ever thought about learning to paint in oils? Or did you paint in oils a while ago and you want to get back to it? This is the class for you! This class combines beginners with experienced artists. Beginners will learn the fundamentals of oil painting while more experienced artists will “brush up” their skills learning more advanced techniques. Beginners and first time painters to our class work on structured projects tailored to students’ experience. Everyone paints at their own level and at their own speed. The focus is on individual style. On the first night of class new students should bring pen and paper.  We will go over materials.  If you have any old oil painting supplies please bring them regardless of their age. Our ongoing students continue working on their paintings.  Many of our regular students have shown their painting in local exhibitions winning top prizes in juried shows.


Tuesday, 6:30-9:00 p.m. (1 sess. Mar. 20)      Midland Park H.S.
Join us for an evening of painting on silk!  You will learn the basics of silk painting and create a 22”X 22” scarf to take home!  Bring a friend (separate registration) and get ready to step into a creative atmosphere.  Absolutely NO previous painting or art background is necessary!  All material is included. Did you ever admire beautiful flowers, cute animals, brilliant sunsets and peaceful water scenes and wonder how you could paint them?  What about the four seasons, or painting your own greeting cards?  Come join this relaxing and pleasant watercolor class and learn from a watercolor expert with 40 years of experience on how to do just that!  Whether new to the art or not, you will enjoy this class and the personal attention given.  All supplies provided and discussed first night of class, only paper will need to be purchased.
